Morgan Schaffer Systems’ range of Calisto on-line monitors allows one to permanently monitor the combustible gases and moisture being generated during transformer operation. Many transformer faults develop slowly over time and for this reason many utilities test their equipment only once per year. However, faults can develop quickly and can cause catastrophic failures in between the yearly oil analysis. On-line dissolved gas monitors were developed to cover the period between the yearly oil testing. On-line monitors help extend the life of a transformer and assist in preventing catastrophic failures.

Calisto Range

The Calisto range allows end-users to select a cost effective solution

to on-line transformer DGA monitoring, from single gas units including moisture to full multigas units with moisture and SF6 monitoring. The units can be fully integrated into any Scada or DNS system with configurable alarm settings for gas and moisture levels. The Calisto range can also be configured for remote field monitoring via Ethernet or cellphone modems. Calisto Access Software allows for both configuration and diagnostics in one software package.

Calisto (Hydrogen • Moisture)

Calisto is a simple and reliable system for detecting transformer developing faults at inception. It provides unequalled stability at low concentration levels and is field-installable in less than 2 hours. The monitor offers additional value through on-line monitoring of dissolved water and can be easily networked for monitoring entire substations. Used in conjunction with other MSS products, such as our Myrkos Portable Fault Gas Analyser, Calisto becomes a key element in managing critical transformers.


Calisto 2 (Hydrogen • Moisture • Carbon Monoxide)

Combine early fault detection and monitoring of cellulose degradation

Calisto 2 is Morgan Schaffer’s newest innovation for value-added transformer fault detection and monitoring. Still featuring unequalled performance and stability for the measurement of moisture and dissolved hydrogen – the key gas for detecting incipient faults at their earliest stage. Calisto 2 also offers independent measurement of carbon monoxide, a gas often generated in large quantities when transformer cellulose overheats. Calisto 2 is supplied standard with DNP3.0 and MODBUS communication protocols, thus allowing easy deployment within existing communications and SCADA networks.


 

Calisto 5 (5 Fault Gases • Moisture)

Avoid what could become a costly transformer failure by choosing our new generation of multi-gas on-line monitors. The Calisto 5 is a powerful tool for transformer condition assessment.

This generation of Calistos uses gas chromatography with proven reliable results. This is a physical method of separation in which the components to be separated are distributed between two phases, one of which is stationary (stationary phase) while the other moves in a definite direction (mobile phase).
