SDT International (Special Detection Tools International) is a Belgian based company who have specialised in the research, development and manufacture of ultrasonic detection tools, applications and functionality for over 50 years. SDT is now recognised as the world leader in ultrasonic detection technology.

Leak detection applications for ultrasound technology have increased and improved steadily throughout the years. It was however the introduction of the contact probe that helped SDT quickly realise its potential in the world of condition monitoring and predictive maintenance. With 31 international distributors, SDT is now easily the most recognisable brand of ultrasonic detection equipment worldwide.

SDT North America introduced the first certified Level 1 ultrasound inspector training which has now been successfully completed by hundreds of SDT users and ultrasound technology users around the world. The first Level 2 ultrasound inspector training course took place in 2009.

The SDT 170 unit and its arrangement of sensors have come to be considered as the first line of defence in many industrial processes, production plants and general maintenance operations throughout the world. This versatile, ergonomically designed unit has become the maintenance tool of choice for mechanical and electrical maintenance professionals throughout the word.

This great instrument is in process of being superseded by the SDT 270 which is a completely redesigned unit with even more features and enhanced ease of use.
